Brad:大家好,我是Brad. Hi everyone, my name is Brad
Nick:那今天呢又是我和我的朋友Bread來教大家一個非常應景非常實用的一個短語，就做"放飛機"這個短語相信大家也經常用對吧。比如說你放了我飛機沒有按時赴約，這個在英文中它有個相對應得表達,就做"stand somebody up", 這個表達是用在約會上。那另外一個就做Flake,或者是它的動詞形式Flake out,就是加一個Out.那我們接下來一樣請Brad來解釋一下這個場景的一個用法. Hi brad, say like in what kind of situation you would use the word "stand somebody up"
Brad: When you are, in this sense, if you get stood up, that would be a scenario where you are at a restaurant and you are planning to meet a women
Nick: A girl
B: Right, right
Nick: Could be a woman
Brad: Yeah I don't know how old people are listening. But yeah, you are at a restaurant, you are excited, you are happy to eat and probably talk to this woman or girl. She hasn't show up and she isn't texting like hey I'm late or hey I'm just not gonna show up. That means you got stood up. If a girl doesn't show up, you got stood up.
Nick: Ok that sounds like
Brad: A rhyme?
Nick: No, it's not good at all. 那Brad剛剛已經非常清晰的給我們解釋了特別用在如果你和一個女孩子去約會，當你去一個Restaurant餐館,或者去看電影或者怎麼樣都好。如果是約會的話你跑過去她沒有來，也沒有告訴你爲什麼不來，那這個就可以用"stand somebody up" 但是因爲放了飛機是過去式，所以我們一般會說"stood somebody up". 比如說你去那個Restaurant然後她沒來，你就可以說"Ah, she stood me up. Oh my god, I hate her"大概就可以這樣說. But, like he said it's only for the date, right?
Brad: Yeah, someone who you are anticipating to spend the night with. How about that?
Nick: what if I just wanna say somebody just
Brad: just a friend? Just a friend to meet for lunch or just a friend to stay with?
Nick: Yeah they didn't show up. Last week, I had a study group
Brad: and no one showed up?
Nick: Actually only one person did show up
Brad: Good for him. But the rest of us who gonna show up in the study group, we are all flakes. We are all flakes we wanted to play video games and you know, do other stuff. We flaked out we feel bad.
Nick: It can be used as a noun and a verb. You can say a person "you are a flake" and you can also say "she flaked out", right?
Nick: 那Brad剛剛就是說他如果在一個正常的情況下,你不是一個dating的情況下,你是可以用Flaked out就是一個過去式做一個動詞。比如說他放我飛機了，我上週搞了一個學習小組，居然有一個人沒來，我就非常生氣。我就可以說He flaked out 就是說他沒有出現，他放我們飛機了。也可以把Flake當做一個名詞來用，就叫Flake. 剛剛那種前提下他沒有出現我們就可以說He is flake. 那這些就是今天的內容, so this is pretty much for today, I'll see you guys next time.
