Thinking of big empty spaces, Alan imagined the old hangar on the RAF camp along the road, and made up a science fiction story (he talked a bit about H.G. Wells) in which the hangar was itself a brain,
圖靈給他講，附近皇軍空軍基地的舊機庫，其實是個大腦，
programmed in such a way that it would work normally for anyone else, but when he went in to the hangar, he would be trapped.
那個大腦是有程序的，它只爲某個人工作，如果其他人走進去，就會陷在裏面。
The doors would shut. And then he would have to play against the machine, a game of chess, the best out of three.
門就會關上，然後他必須跟那個大腦下棋，三局兩勝。
The machine would counter his moves so quickly that he would have to make conversation to distract it.
那個機器很厲害，所以必須要分散它的注意力。
So he would talk to it, first making it show anger, then pleasing it by being stupid himself, and making it feel smug.
先跟它說話，激怒它，再裝傻，逗它笑，使它驕傲，這樣它就有可能失誤。
'Can you think what I feel? Can you feel what I think?', he said with terrific emphasis at one point, as he became more excited with the story.
"你能體會嗎？你能體會嗎？"圖靈越說越興奮，反覆地強調。
He quite transfixed Arnold as he took a piece of chalk, and imagined how he could beat the machine, by doing arithmetic so badly and slowly and stupidly that it would commit suicide in despair.
他拿出一截粉筆，說可以故意假裝很慢很傻很爛地做算術，這樣就可以把那個大腦氣瘋掉，也許它會程序錯亂，然後就自殺了。
Arnold tried to explain his ideas too; and Alan was patient, although he could so easily have been crushing, and led him on Socratically.
阿諾德還聊了他的生活，雖然圖靈平時很暴躁，但此時卻無比地耐心，用蘇格拉底式的語氣開導阿諾德。
