拉鉤上吊--to make a pinky promise

大家好，歡迎來到小強英語。在生活中，很多人尤其是小孩子喜歡用勾小指（entwine their little fingers）的方式來立誓，表示“拉鉤上吊，一百年不許變”。在英語當中，“拉鉤上吊”是to pinky swear或者to make a pinky promise。比如說：

I made her pinky swear not to spill the beans.
我讓她勾小指保證不泄露祕密。

勾小指這一傳統很可能起源於中國（The tradition presumably originated in China.），之後傳到了日本。在日本，勾小指最開始意味着違約的人要切斷他們的小指（the person who breaks the promise must cut off their pinky finger），現今是一種非正式的立約方式（an informal way of sealing a deal），尤其在學生和密友之間流行（It is most common among school-age children and close friends）。在十九世紀的時候，勾小指的傳統傳到了美國，所以就有了我們今天所學的to pinky swear和to make a pinky promise。
