我們今天來討論一位同學對下面這句中文的翻譯是否正確，中文如下：那道題太難了，他幾乎答不上來。翻譯如下：

【誤】The question was so hard that he could almost not answer it.

在我們進行翻譯的時候，要翻譯“幾乎不”這個意思，只能夠用hardly，scarcely這兩個詞表示否定，不能用almost not。

【誤】She said almost nothing at the meeting.

她在會議上幾乎什麼也沒說。

【正】She said hardly nothingat the meeting.

【正】She has changed so much that I can scarcely recognize her.

她改變這麼大，我幾乎認不出來了。

我們今天分析的這位同學的翻譯應該這樣修改：

【正】The question was so hard that he could hardly answer it.

【正】The question was so hard that he could scarcely answer it.

簡而言之，記住翻譯中文中的“幾乎不”，不能用“almost not”，可以用hardly或者是用scarcely這2個表示否定的詞。
