What could a drone do in a cafeteria?

一架無人機在自助餐廳裏可以做什麼？

The world's first drone cafe, which has just opened its doors at Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands, employs a robotic fleet known as Blue Jay to deliver the drinks.

全球首家無人機咖啡廳日前剛在荷蘭埃因霍芬理工大學開業，該咖啡廳僱傭了一個名爲"藍色傑伊"的機器人團隊傳送飲品。

The drone looks like a small white flying saucer with shiny eyes. It buzzs over to a customer, take orders by way of camera sensors (you can choose from one of four drinks), and your selection is then communicated to another drone that picks up the drink and brings it to your waiting table.

該無人機看起來就像一個擁有閃亮眼睛的白色小飛碟。它會飛到顧客面前，通過相機傳感器接收點餐單(你可以在4種飲品中選擇一種)，然後你的選擇將被傳送到另一架無人機上，它會拿起飲料並送到你等候的桌前。

The drones each cost about EUR2,000 to construct, and were the result of a program celebrating the university's 60th anniversary. The 20 students behind the project, who spent nine months developing and building the autonomous drone, aim to show how such small craft could become an essential part of modern daily life.

Students say their aim is to demonstrate the potential of the drones, which are useful not only up in the sky, but also indoors.

"A drone can be used for fire safety, it can detect intruders, but it can also be just convenient to have a drone in your house to bring you an apple," said a student in the video presentation of the Blue Jay.

"We believe that one day, domestic drones will be a part of society. One day, a drone could be a friend," he added.
