Go off the deep end的意思是“不要魯莽衝動”。其英文解釋爲： to act irrationally, following one's emotions or fantasies。

此語源於游泳。游泳池一段水深，一端水淺。如果一個人不知道水的深淺，從深水的一頭跳入池子裏，那他就跳進了沒底的深水中。如果這個人又不識水性，就糟糕了。這樣做事相當魯莽衝動的。
