The Big Apple is home to the nation's highest average tip amounts for Lyft drivers, according to the ride-sharing service.

According to officials, Lyft drivers have earned more than a half-billion dollars in tips, with more than half of them being given in 2017.

The average tip amount increased by 8 percent last year, officials said.

The data also showed that drivers who work on Friday and Saturday nights are 35 to 40 percent more likely to receive a tip.
