In ancient times, there was an old man named Yu Gong.
古時候，有一老人，名字叫愚公。
He was nearly 90 years old.
快九十歲了。
There were two mountains in front of his house.
他家的門口有兩座大山。
One was the Taihang Mountain, the other the Wangwu Mountain.
一座叫太行山，一座叫王屋山。
It was very inconvenient for people to come and go.
人們進出非常不方便。
One day, Yu Gong said to the whole family: "These two mountains block the doorway of our house.
一天，愚公對全家人說:“這兩座大山，擋在了咱們家的門口。
It is very inconvenient for us to come and go.
進出很不方便。
Let our whole family exert efforts to move away these two mountains. How about it?"
咱們全家出力，移走這兩座大山，好不好?”
Upon hearing this, all his sons and grandsons said: "You are right. Let us start tomorrow!"
他的兒子、孫子一聽，都說:“你說得對，咱們明天就開始幹!”
But his wife felt it too difficult to move the mountains.
可是，他的妻子覺得搬山太難了。
She said: "Do you know how high these two mountains are?
她說:“你們知道，這兩座山有多高嗎?
How can you move such big mountains? Where can you put all the stones and earth?"
這麼大的山，你們怎麼把它移走呢?哪兒放得下這麼多的石頭和泥土呢?”
Everybody said: "So long as we work hard together, we can certainly move away these two mountains.
大家說:“只要我們一起努力幹，就一定能夠移走這兩座大山。
We can carry the stones and earth of the mountains to the sea."
山上的石頭和泥土，我們可以把它們填放到海里去。”
The following day, Yu Gong led the whole family and started to move the mountains.
第二天，愚公帶着一家人開始搬山了。
His neighbour was a widow with a son, only 7 or 8 years old.
他的鄰居是寡婦，她有一個孩子，才七八歲。
When he heard of this, he also came to help happily.
聽說要搬山，也高高興興地來幫忙。
They worked nonstop every day, fearing neither heat in summer nor cold in winter, neither wind nor rain.
他們夏天不怕熱，冬天不怕冷，不怕颳風，不怕下雨，每天不停地搬。
When a shrewd old man named Zhi Sou saw Yu Gong's family moving the mountains, he thought it ridiculous and said to Yu Gong:
有個老人叫智雯，很精明。看見愚公一家人在搬山，他覺得很可笑，就對愚公說:
"You are so old that you can hardly walk. Can you move the mountains?"
“你這麼大歲數了，路也走不動了，能搬得動山嗎?
Yu Gong replied: "You are not even as clever as a child.
愚公回答說:“你還沒有小孩子聰明!
Though I am about to die, I have sons.
我雖然快要死了，但是我還有兒子。
When my sons die, there are still grandsons.
兒子死了，還有孫子。
Generation after generation, my offspring are endless.
子子孫孫，一直傳下去，這是無窮無盡的。
But with more and more stones being removed, smaller and smaller will the mountains become.
山上的石頭卻是搬走一點兒就少一點兒。
Not a grain of earth or a piece of stone will grow on the mountains.
再也長不出一粒泥、一塊石頭來的。
If we work without stop every day, why can't we move away the mountains?"
我們每天這樣不停地搬，爲什麼搬不走山呢?”
Zhi Sou, who thought himself clever, had nothing more to say.
自以爲聰明的智史聽了，再也沒有話說了。
Yu Gong led his family digging the mountains continually from early morning till late night.
愚公帶領一家人每天起早摸黑挖山不止。
They finally moved God, who sent two celestials to the world to move away these two mountains.
終於感動了上帝，上帝派了兩個神仙下凡，把這兩座大山搬走了。
愚公移山英語故事加翻譯篇二Yugong was a ninety-year-old man who lived at the north of two high mountains, Mount Taixing and Mount tching over a wide expanse of land, the mountains blocked yugong's way making it inconvenient for him and his family to get around.
太行，王屋二山的北面，住了一個九十歲的老翁，名叫愚公。 二山佔地廣闊，擋住去路，使他和家人往來極爲不便。
One day yugong gathered his family together and said,"Let's do our best to level these two mountains. We shall open a road that leads to Yuzhou. What do you think?"
一天，愚公召集家人說：「讓我們各盡其力，剷平二山，開條道路，直通豫州，你們認爲怎樣?」
All but his wife agreed with him."You don't have the strength to cut even a small mound," muttered his wife. "How on earth do you suppose you can level Mount Taixin and Mount Wanwu? Moreover, where will all the earth and rubble go?"
大家都異口同聲贊成，只有他的妻子表示懷疑，並說：「你連開鑿一個小丘的力量都沒有，怎可能剷平太行、王屋二山呢?況且，鑿出的土石又丟到哪裏去呢?」
"Dump them into the Sea of Bohai!" said everyone.
大家都熱烈地說：「把土石丟進渤海里。 」
So Yugong, his sons, and his grandsons started to break up rocks and remove the earth. They transported the earth and rubble to the Sea of Bohai.
於是愚公就和兒孫，一起開挖土，把土石搬運到渤海去。
Now Yugong's neighbour was a widow who had an only child eight years old. Evening the young boy offered his help eagerly.
愚公的鄰居是個寡婦，有個兒子八歲也興致勃勃地走來幫忙。
Summer went by and winter came. It took Yugong and his crew a full year to travel back and forth once.
寒來暑往，他們要一年才能往返渤海一次。
On the bank of the Yellow River dwelled an old man much respected for his wisdom. When he saw their back-breaking labour, he ridiculed Yugong saying,"Aren't you foolish, my friend? You are very old now, and with whatever remains of your waning strength, you won't be able to remove even a corner of the mountain."
住在黃河河畔的智叟，看見他們這樣辛苦，取笑愚公說：「你不是很愚蠢嗎?你已一把年紀了，就是用盡你的氣力，也不能挖去山的一角呢?」
Yugong uttered a sigh and said,"A biased person like you will never understand. You can't even compare with the widow's little boy!""Even if I were dead, there will still be my children, my grandchildren, my great grandchildren, my great great grandchildren. They descendants will go on forever. But these mountains will not grow any taler. We shall level them one day!" he declared with confidence.
愚公嘆息道：「你有這樣的成見，是不會明白的。 你比那寡婦的小兒子還不如呢!就算我死了，還有我的兒子，我的孫子，我的曾孫子，他們一直傳下去。 而這二山是不會加大的，總有一天，我們會把它們剷平。 」
The wise old man was totally silenced.
智叟聽了，無話可說：
When the guardian gods of the mountains saw how determined Yugong and his crew were, they were struck with fear and reported the incident to the Emperor of ed with admiration for Yugong, the Emperor of Heavens ordered two mighty gods to carry the mountains away.
二山的守護神被愚公的堅毅精神嚇倒，便把此事奏知天帝。 天帝佩服愚公的精神，就命兩位大力神揹走二山。
愚公移山英語故事加翻譯篇三There were two high mountains between Jizhou in the south and Heyang in the north. One was called Taihang Mountain and the other Wangwu Mountain. Both of the mountains were very high. Just to the north of the mountains lived an old man called Yu Gong who was nearly 90 years old. With the two high mountains just in front of his house, his family and he had to walk a long way around the mountains whenever they had something to do on the other side of the mountains.
One day, Yu Gong called all his family together to talk about how to move the two mountains to other places. His wife said, "An old man like you cannot even move a small hill, not to mention the two high mountains. Even if you can, where can you throw so much earth and stone?"
"The Bohai Sea is big enough to contain all the earth and stone," Yu Gong said. So it was decided. His children started to dig the mountains, led by the old man Yu Gong.
A man named Zhi Sou saw them working and tried to stop them, saying, "You are so silly! You're so old and weak that you can't even take away the grass and trees. How can you move the high mountains?"
"You're wrong," Yu Gong said with a sigh. "Look, my sons can continue my work after my death. When my sons die, my grandchildren will continue. So generations after generations, there's no end. But the mountains can't grow higher. Do you still say I can't move them away?"
Later the Heaven God, upon learning of Yu Gong's story, was greatly moved. He then ordered another god to come down and take the two high mountains away.
The story tells us that so long as one is determined and sticks to it long enough, anything can be done, no matter how difficult it is.
在冀州的南面，河陽的北面，有兩座巍峨的大山，一座是太行，一座是王屋，方圓七百里，有萬丈高。
山的北邊住着年近90的愚公。由於家門被山擋住，每次外出全家人都要繞過大山，多走很多路。
一天，愚公把全家人召集到一起，商量着把兩座大山移走。妻子說：“憑你的力量，連一座小山丘也移不走，何況這兩座大山呢?再說，你就是能移走，那土石往哪裏放呢?”愚公說：“渤海那麼大，可以把土石扔到渤海里去。”
說幹就幹，愚公帶領子孫們挖起山來。河曲的智叟看見了，笑着阻止道：“你真是太傻了!以你的殘年餘力，連山上的一根草都動不了，更何況大山?”愚公嘆了口氣說：“你錯了。你想想，我死了以後還有我的兒子，我的兒子又有兒子，子子孫孫沒有窮盡!可是山上的土石不會增加，還怕挖不走嗎?”
愚公移山的事很快被玉皇大帝知道了。玉帝被愚公堅韌不拔的精神所感動，便派大力神把兩座大山揹走了。
這個故事告訴我們：只要有決心，有毅力，再難的事情也能辦成。
