Disgrace
[dɪsˈɡreɪs]
n. 耻辱;不光彩;令人感到羞耻的人(或事)
Disgrace = dis-(否定,相反)+ grac- (同-grat-,光彩,恩惠) + -e,引申词义为“耻辱,不光彩”。常见表达有in disgrace很不讨人喜欢,很不光彩地、a disgrace to sb/sth令人感到羞耻的人(或事)、it’s a disgrace that (= it is very wrong that)……很不像话、poverty is no disgrace贫穷不是耻辱。
职场如江湖,行业不大,别在职场做不光彩的事(Don’t bring disgrace on yourself),比如在报销单中记上私人餐费,拿走最后一袋咖啡等。不良行为很可能会带给职场生涯带来毁灭性的打击。我们都要重视个人品牌,让自己成为行走职场的活名片(walking business card)。
