Issues in the recruitment world

In the competitive world of investment banking, good senior executives are not easy to find. So what should the industry's hard-pressed directors do when they need to find senior staff? Increasingly, they decide to call in the headhunters. These are busy and profitable times for the recruitment agencies that dominate the world of executive search and selection.

However, there is little doubt that over its 13-year history, Pinnacle and its chairman, Matthew Edwards, have built up an impressive reputation.

Edwards estimates that his company controls between 10 and 15 per cent of the headhunting market for senior investment banking jobs in the UK. (9)er, it is the high-calibre jobs and people that Pinnacle deals with that define the company's success. For example, the company was recently commissioned to find a new chairman for NBS Bank, a vacancy that was one of the most talked about in the banking world.

Most HR directors recognise that headhunters such as Pinnacle play a valuable role in the recruitment process.(10) are concerned that a few companies, including Pinnacle, have too much power over high-level recruitment.(11) Tim Davidson, HR Director at Cawfield Bank, explains, They can be kingmakers. These are the people who decide who gets a future and who doesn't. If Edwards forms a view about an individual, it can affect their ability to get a particular job. That view could just have been formed on a bad day.' (12)............ Final decisions in the selection process are always taken by his clients, he says, whoever they are.

The role of headhunters should not be exaggerated. Many companies never use them. But as top executives are hard to find, there will always be a role for people like Matthew Edwards.

1、配對題

這道題很繞,因爲出題者故意干擾你,讓你明明覺得對了,對答案時卻錯了。做這道題就要注意積累商務英語詞彙及短語的相似表達法,因爲題目和文中98%不會有相同的表達,如果有相同的,那千萬不要選,除非你意思全部理解到位,十分肯定的情況,因爲那一般都是陷阱哈哈。還有就是八個題目,ABCDE五個選項一定都要選到,且一個選項最多選兩次(經驗所得,目前來看只有一套真題出現了一個選項選三次的情況,大家在不確定的情況下就好好權衡了哈)有些人是先看文章再看題,但這不適合我,有可能看了一遍文章後什麼都沒記住。所以我一般是先看第一段文章,然後再選題,順帶把所有題目看了,再繼續看下面的文章。由於前面的題目已經看了一遍了,後面的就可以邊看邊選了。

2、排序題

這道題是在文章中挖6個坑,然後再給你兩個干擾項,讓你填回去。 最初做這道題的時候我只想用四個字形容:慘絕人寰!因爲很有可能“牽一髮動全身”,一個蘿蔔栽錯了坑,可能其他四五個都不對了。這道題要注意每個空前後的代詞和連詞,有的是承接,換一種表達法;有的是轉折;有的是對上文的總結等等。還有就是選項和所填那個空的前後文要一致。這道題多練練吧,練出感覺來了就能把錯誤率降低了。

3、閱讀文章然後選題

這道題應該是大家最熟悉的題型了,6道題,一般文章也是六段,每段對應一道題;有時候是五段,那最後一道題就是總結性的題目。這道題一般我錯1個左右,有時候真覺得題出得莫名其妙的,不知道爲什麼錯。不過總的來說這部分比較簡單,我就不多說了。

4、完形填空

這部分大家也比較熟悉,主要就是考詞語辨析和各種介詞短語啦。說來也變態,有時候四個選項完全分不清有什麼區別,不過專四也有很多這種傻傻分不清楚的詞類辨析,所以複習這裏的時候就覺得輕鬆多啦。做這道題的時候最好6分鐘就做完,可以省下很多時間。

5、填詞

也是拿分題。剛開始做的時候可能有點摸不着底,因爲就這樣填詞,也不知道填的對不對。但多做幾套題總結規律了就好填多了。填的幾乎都是小詞,介詞、連詞、冠詞還有個別名詞等等。雖然個別答案有點匪夷所思,但我覺得這道題大體是憑語感,所以每次做完之後多讀讀,以後遇到空答案自然而然就出來了。

6、改錯

最開始做改錯的時候覺得挺難的,但也是多做做就有感覺了,到後來可能只錯一兩個。這道題會經常出些介詞誤導你,這要求平時對介詞短語很敏感。12道題,一般有兩三個是對的,如果實在找不到錯,就要大膽的寫上CORRCT,由於太久反而不利於做題,做完了還可以回頭來看看有沒有改錯的。有的考的是句子,在短語和詞彙裏找不到錯誤時,一般就要上下求索,看看句子銜接或者主謂關係有沒有錯。這道題也是建議做完之後多讀,培養語感。
