今年元宵節 你吃的是“湯圓”還是“元宵”？
元宵節就要到啦！說到元宵節，說到底最重要的還是和家人、朋友們分享那一碗湯圓了，節日的味道都濃縮在這一個個白乎乎的糰子裏，少了它就少了那專屬的味道。但是到我們碗裏來的那軟趴趴的白胖子到底是“湯圓”還是“元宵”呢？
Chinese New Year festivities will finally come to an end on Saturday with the Lantern Festival. It's a time for people to enjoy delicious glutinous rice balls with their families, friends and lovers.
新春佳節在本週六隨着元宵節的到來，終於是接近尾聲了。對人們來說，元宵節是與家人、朋友和愛人享受美味湯圓的時刻。

1）Chinese New Year festivities
一般來說，Chinese New Year指的是春節這一天，也就是正月初一。festivity表示歡慶、慶典的意思，作爲複數使用的話則可以用來指節日。所以Chinese New Year festivities我們可以用來表達“新春佳節”的意思。
2）come to an end
“來到了末尾”，也就是指“接近尾聲”“結束、完結、告終”等意思了。
e.g. Flowers fade when they come to an end. 花兒開過就凋謝了。
3）glutinous rice ball
glutinous，表示“粘的，粘性的”等意思，所以也就衍生有了“糯米的”含義，因此glutinous rice指的就是糯米，而glutinous rice ball就是糯米糰子了。
Yuanxiao and tangyuan are the traditional food that people eat on Lantern Festival. They are boiled glutinous rice balls with stuffing. People in north China make yuanxiao by rolling a hard stuffing in glutinous rice flour. In south China, tangyuan is prepared by placing the filling inside rice flour wrapping, similar to the making of jiaozi. Popular stuffings people usually use include fragrant mashed peanut, black sesame and mashed red bean and cane sugar.
元宵和湯圓是人們在元宵佳節吃的傳統食品，煮好的、有餡兒的糯米糰子。在中國北方的人們，把硬硬的餡兒放在糯米粉裏翻滾做成元宵；南方的人們做湯圓則是把餡兒放在糯米粉裏包起來，有點兒像包餃子。人們愛用的一些餡兒有香味濃郁的花生糊，黑芝麻，紅豆沙和蔗糖。
Tips這裏有兩個表示“餡兒”的用法，stuffing和filling。stuff和fill作爲動詞，都有“填充”的意思，fill有“填滿”的傾向，stuff則是“填塞”的感覺。使用動詞-ing作名詞的形式，則是“填充物、填料”的含義，所以可以用來指代“餡兒”。
There is a little difference between yuanxiao and tangyuan. Yuanxiao is usually made fresh and eaten within 24 hours, while tangyuan can be frozen and kept for a longer period. People that won't bother to make handmade tangyuan can purchase it in most supermarkets.
元宵和湯圓之間有一些小的區別。元宵通常是現做，在一天裏就吃了；而湯圓可以冰凍，並保存更長的期限。不想費心自己做湯圓的人則可以在大多數的超市裏購買到。

e.g. Don't bother to apply for a job there. 不要勞神去那兒找工作了。
e.g. I won’t bother to ask for your help. 我不會費心去讓你幫忙的。
