McDonald's has announced it is launching two limited edition versions of its most famous burger- a 'junior' one and a supersized one.

The new additions have been released to mark 50 years since the original Big Mac was released, but will only be available from the 7th February to the 20th March across both the UK and the United States.

The tasty trio will include the original '50-year-old' Big Mac - which will temporarily be known as the 'birthday burger' - made from two all-beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles and onions, sandwiched between a three-piece sesame seed bun.

An established classic in the McDonald's family, the Big Mac was first created in February 1967 by an American McDonald's franchisee named Jim Delligatti in Pennsylvania, USA, before being rolled out across the world the following year.

Delligatti originally wanted to call the burger 'The Aristocrat', however after consideration McDonald's chose to go with the now famous name, Big Mac.
