One day, three men met with a huge river, when they were hiking. Though the waves wererolling on, they should cross the river. But they could find no way out about how to cross theriver.
One of them prayed, “God, please give me the strength to swim over the river.” In a puff ofwind, God granted to him strong, powerful arms and legs. It took him about two hours to swimover the river and for twice he was nearly drowned.
Having seen that, another man prayed to God, “My God, please endow me with the strength tocross the river and tools.” In a puff of wind, God gave him a boat. He spent around an hourrowing across the river, and also, his boat almost turned over for twice.
Having sighted the results of those two men, the third man prayed too, “God, please grant mewith the strength and tools to cross the river and wisdom.” In a puff of wind, God turned himinto a woman. She had a look at a map, and walked upward along the river for two hundredyards, and then crossed a bridge.

"OK," said the farmer. The farmer pulled the car out of the hole with his tractor,and the manpaid him a lot of money. The man looked at the farmer and said, "You must make a lot ofmoney pulling cars out of this hole day and night."
"Actually, no,"said the farmer.
"Why not?"asked the man."The hole is very deep,and a lot of people get stuck and ask I don't make money day and night because I don't pull cars out at night."
"At night I'm busy filling the hole with water,"answer the farmer.
離城市非常遠的地方住着一個貧窮的農夫和他的妻子。在他們的房子前面是一條很小的土路。非常少的車輛駛過這條道路，因爲它離城市是如此的遠。在這條土路上，有一個很大的充滿了水的洞。這個洞非常深，但是在這條路上的司機並不知道多深。司機們總是駛進洞中，而且從他們沒有駛出來。

“有難題嗎?”農夫問。“是的，”這個人回答。
“我的轎車載進這個洞裏了。你能幫助我嗎?”
“也許可以，”農夫回答。“但是我非常忙。”
“如果你幫助我，我將付您錢，”這個人說。
“好吧。”農夫說。
農夫用他的拖拉機把轎車從洞里拉了出來，然後這個人付給他很多錢。
這個男人看着農夫說，“你日夜從這個洞里拉轎車出來一定賺了很多錢。”
“實際上不是這樣，”農夫說。
“爲什麼不?”這個男人問。“這個洞非常深，有很多陷進去的人請求幫助。但是我沒有日夜賺錢，因爲我在晚上不拉汽車出來。”
“在晚上我忙着往這個洞裏面注水，”農夫回答。
小學兒童英語故事：12次微笑A passenger told an air hostess that he needed a cup of water to take his medicine when the plane just took off. She told him that she would bring him the water in ten minutes.
Thirty minutes later, when the passenger’s ring for service sounded, the air hostess flew in a flurry. She was kept so busy that she forgot to deliver him the water. As a result, the passenger was held up to take his medicine. She hurried over to him with a cup of water, but he refused it.
In the following hours on the flight, each time the stewardess passed be the passenger she would ask him with a smile whether he needed help or not. But the passenger never paid heed to her.
When he was going to get off the plane, the passenger asked the stewardess to hand him the passengers’ booklet. She was very sad. She knew that he would write down sharp words, but with a smile she handed it to him.
Off the plane, she opened the booklet, and cracked a smile, for the passenger put it, “On the flight, you asked me whether I need help or not for twelve times in all. How can I refuse your twelve sincere smiles?”

飛機剛剛起飛，一位乘客向空姐要一杯水吃藥。空姐告訴他等飛機起飛後10分鐘就爲他送來。
