山西農村一小學20名教師教15名學生!

As China marches toward urbanization, many farmers are leaving their land to find a job in cities.

隨着中國迅速邁向城市化，許多農民離開家鄉，前往城市裏打工。

While they leave with hope and dreams, they also leave behind a major problem: their children and their schooling.

他們帶着希望和夢想離開，卻將一個大問題留了下來：他們的孩子和孩子的教育。

A school in North China's Shanxi province that had more than 400 students about eight years ago now has only 15, while there are 20 teachers.

中國北方山西省的一所學校，在8年前有400多名學生，如今卻只有15名學生和20名老師。

With so many children going to cities with their parents for better education, it's those left behind that are suffering.

許多的孩子跟隨父母進城去接受更好的教育，而這些留守兒童仍在這裏堅守、承受着這一切。

"Although the teacher works very hard, the students struggle to perform well as there is lack of peer competition and encouragement," said Li Xueping, headmaster of the school.

該校校長李雪平表示：“儘管老師們工作非常努力，但由於缺乏競爭和鼓勵，學生們難以取得好成績。”

"All my best friends left to study in cities. It's only during vacation that I get to meet and play with them," said 11-year-old boy Li Xinsheng.

11歲的學生李新生說道：“我的好朋友們都去城裏上學了。只有到放假了我才能見到他們，和他們一起玩。”

The left-behind children are all from the poorest families. Maybe some will leave later when their parents get economically better, said the headmaster.

這些留守兒童都是來自最爲貧困的家庭。隨着家裏經濟狀況的好轉，可能其中一些孩子稍晚也會跟父母進城。
